Cover Crop Recipes

RECIPE – POST CORN, GOING TO SOYBEAN: USE CEREAL RYE

Farmers who plan to grow wheat in a crop rotation should use cereal rye with caution. Cereal rye cannot be grown or used as a cover crop on fields where certified wheat will be grown in the next five years.

RECIPE – post corn silage, going to corn or soybeans: use cereal mix

These cover crops can have many benefits, such as erosion control, weed suppression, improved soil health, and quality forage production.

RECIPE – POST SOYBEAN, GOING TO CORN: USE A MIX OF OATS/WHEAT/RAPESEED OR WHEAT ONLY

The following recipe provides an introductory approach to integrating a cover crop into a soybean-corn rotation.

These cover crops can have many benefits, such as erosion control, improved soil health, weed suppression, and quality forage production.
